Oscars goes to…..

Another year has gone by, and once again i prove that i don’t really like movies that won Oscars. This time the title of ‘movie of the year’ goes to King’s speech. I have no interest to watch it at all and yet it’s the best among all movies in 2010??? Inception is still the best one for me. Natalie Portman and Colin Firth won the Oscars for best actor and actress for Black Swan and King’s speech respectively. Again, i’m just not into Black Swan. I’ve watched it and i think it’s just a normal movie. Maybe it’s just me. 🙂

Blake believe he can fly~~

Atlanta team may won the Shooting star contest, Steph may won the skill-challenge contest, JJ may won the 3-point contest, but the man of the day belongs to none other than Mr. Clippers #32.

For the first time in NBA history, the contestants for the slam dunk contest are all either rookie, sophomore, or 3rd year man (wondering whether there is any term for this). Yup yup.. Blake Griffin, JaVale McGee, DeMar DeRozan, and Serge Ibaka are the contestants for this year’s dunk contest.

And as many people have expected, BG32 is the winner with the stunning dunk-over-car with the help of his teammate, Baron Davis.

His dunks for today include 360 dunk, over-the-back-board dunk, elbow dunk, and finally the dunk-over-car with choirs sang ‘i believe i can fly’ during that period. Take a look at the video and get stunned!! So much for Vince Carter now. 🙂

JB can jump

Lending the terms “white man can jump” from Basketball, Justin Bieber surprisingly can play well in basketball. Proof? He is selected as the 2011 NBA Allstar Celebrity game’ MVP (Most Valuable Player). Not bad right?

Anyway, let’s talk a bit about this boy (He’s still 16 after all). I bet most of you didn’t know that he can play piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet. In addition, i bet most of you didn’t know that he was ‘discovered’ in YouTube. In 2007, he entered the local singing competition in Stratford singing Ne-Yo’s song and won the second place. It was his mom (Pattie Mallette) who posted his performance video on youtube for their family and friends to see. That was the main purpose but it turns out that it’s what made what he is now.

 

Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of So So Def (a record label company based in Atlanta), accidently saw his performance video and eventually contacted Bieber’s mother. He then flew to Atlanta and offered a contract by RBMG (Raymond Braun Media Group), a joint venture between Braun and Usher (yeah.. you finally got a hint why he perform with Usher in “Somebody to love”). Braun became his manager until now.

He perform new song titled ‘Pray’ in 2010 American Music Awards and it was the number one music video on iTunes. Check it out and let me know how do you think about this video. 🙂

How long can you kiss ??

In Singapore, you probably had heard about the Subaru Challenge which normally held at Ngee Ann City. A competition which test out your endurance level in “just” putting your palm as long as you could where the last person who can survive will get a new subaru impreza car. Thailand is organizing similar competition, but instead of putting your palm on a car, couples will need to kiss as long as they could.

As much as 14 couples gather in Pattaya beach to compete each other in this competition. It was started on Sunday, 13th February at 6AM (local time). From the news, there is one couple which was disqualified after kissing for 34 minutes because the woman fainted. Nevertheless, those couples have to keep kissing in the same spot except they need to go to toilet. As the prize for this ‘hot’ competition, the winning couple will get a money as much as 100,000 Baht (or around 3,250 USD) with additional one diamond ring worth of 50,000 Baht (or around 1,600 USD).

No more sponsorless for Catalonian

BARCELONA… Undoubtedly, it is one of successful football teams in the world for so many years. It is so famous until it even beats the Barcelona city as the top search when you Google the word ‘Barcelona’.

It is also one of three team in the history of Spanish football club to have never been relegated from La Liga. Quite a scary reputation as it was ‘born’ on 1899, which is more than 100 years now. Even big club like Manchester united was relegated before.

But enough about history, the latest big news about this team is related with their official jersey. Ever since they born, the team had never been sponsored by any companies whatsoever. Probably some of you thought that Unicef had been sponsoring them for quite some years because there’s the Unicef logo in front side of Barcelona’s jersey. Well, you are wrong.. Instead of becoming the one who’s being sponsored, Barcelona is the one who make a donation (sponsored) to Unicef along these years.

A solid and strong team with no financial backup has broken their 111 year old history by signing agreement with Qatar foundation in a 5 years contract worth of €150m.

Qatar Foundation, a non profit organisation in the Middle East that works primarily in the educational sector, will share advertising space on Barcelona shirts from season 2011/12 onwards till 2016 with children’s charity UNICEF.

Marion Jones, The first woman to won five medals at one Olympics (2000). She made history where she achieved three gold medals ( 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 1,600-meter relay), and two bronze medals, in the long jump and the 400-meter relay. Although in the end she was disqualified after she admitted that she used steroids.

But that was year 2007, and so time goes on…

Probably not many of you knew that before taking ‘running’ seriously, she actually had scored 48 points in a single basketball game and led her high school team to the national title.

And from year 2010, she was drafted by Tulsa Shocks (Previously known as Detroit Shocks) which is one of WNBA team. So she shifted from running into shooting.

Car “Mellow” story…

The latest saga on NBA world where one of their superstar, Carmelo Anthony, has been making every ear of NBA fans (especially Nugget’s) turns into red.

So here’s the story, One month ago, the rumor has it that Denver and New Jersey has nearly reached a deal where the Nuggets will send Carmelo along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, and Terrico White to New Jersey and the Nets to send Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Anthony Morrow, Quinton Ross, Ben Uzoh, and Stephen Graham to the other side. Detroit Pistons have been approached to be the third party, where they will send Richard Hamilton to the Nets in exchange of Troy Murphy from the Nets and Johan Petro from the Nuggets.

But then all of sudden, the Nets owner (Mikhail Prokhorov) call out a conference press and informing them that they will not continue to pursue the deal. This has caused lots of uncertainty for the players involved, especially for Carmelo and Richard (ever since the trade news, he’s been on the bench and never played in games).

Carmelo got booed by Nuggets fans after the news. Kobe Bryant (Lakers’ superstar) says to the press that any fans who have been booing their own superstar is a stupid and idiots. He feel that Anthony doesn’t deserve this and if the things keep going for some time, he will might packing up his things and get out from the Denver’s locker room sooner or later.
